No one starts a blog in 2026

“No one starts a blog in 2026”.

That was the first thought that came to mind for me when I decided to unearth my website.

I bought this website back in 2023 with the dream to share an authentic and vulnerable perspective on minimalism, slow living, frugality, and early retirement.

Someone I looked up to at the time, when I approached them with my idea to start a personal blog, told me; “No one starts a blog in 2023”. I was taken aback. That wasn’t the response I expected.

They began to explain that the heyday of blog writing had come and gone. Long form content was a waste of time. No one would read my blog.

Needless to say, I felt rather discouraged after that conversation.

I never started the blog. I was paralyzed by the fear of what could happen. What if my friend was right? What if no one read my blog?

2026 came around. I remembered my dream. The urge to write, to document my story was still there. I felt inspired.

So, I am starting my blog now! In 2026. Three years after my friend told me blogs are “dead”. Because now, I don’t care if no one else is doing it.

I am.

If you’ve found your way here, welcome!

My name is Sara. I have always had an interest in simple living and minimalism. I grew up on a farm in rural Washington State. I’ve since lived all around the state, and even around the world.

This year, I’m honing in on taking my minimalism a step further and whittling down my possessions to the bare necessities. I’m hoping to gain freedom, flexibility, and time.

I’m also trying to pay off my student loans, max out my retirement account, and build up investments in my brokerage account. Notably, on a “low” income- compared to most folks in the FIRE, Financial Independence Retire Early, movement.

I also hope to share about my outdoor adventures, language learning progress, projects (sewing and weaving), budget meal planning, and more!

I’m thrilled that you’re here, and I would be humbled to have you follow along with me as I work towards my dreams.

Welcome to Mindful Zillennial.
